It is a very challenging task for both parents and students to select best college in the field of pharmacy. While choosing a college some important aspects should be considered and if you are satisfied with all aspects as per your requirement then only you can select that college.
Four important parameters based on which one can select a college:
- History of college and its reputation
- Infrastructure of the college
- Faculty and academic ambience
- Placement
1. HISTORY OF COLLEGE: This is the most important aspect that to be considered while choosing a college. Following quarries, one should have and these quarries to be answered with proper documents.
a. In which year the college was established and under which university it is affiliated? You can see the affiliation letter also.
b. You have to see the Approval letter of PCI / AICTE
c. Is the college is NAAC/NBA accredited? If yes then ask to show the letter
d. What is the NIRF ranking of the college?
2. INFRASTRUCTURE: This is another aspect that should come into one’s mind before selecting a college. Following areas are to be seen personally during your visit to the college.
a. Location of the college and its area. Whether separate building is for the college?
b. Alllaboratories should be wellequipped with modern technology? Make sure that
instruments are in running condition. There should be sufficient number of smart class
rooms and seminar hall. There must a good library with sufficient number of reference books and journal’s,.
c. Whether hostel is inside the campus or not? One should visit hostel and meet warden and see the mess, menu and the
discipline of the hostel.
d. There must be Sports facility for both indoor and outdoor.
e. Medical facility should be there for emergency purpose.
3. FACULTY: This is the most important parameter for any student while he or she is going to select a college. Educational qualification, experience and achievement of the faculties to be looked while choosing a college. There must be sufficient number of faculty members including professor and associate professor having PhD’s and laboratory staffs as per guideline of PCI/AICTE. College must be rich in research work with respect to faculty members. There must be good and effective process to monitor academic performance of each student.
4. PLACEMENT: There must be a separate placement cell having an experienced placement head. Reputed companies should visit campus for placement. Placement cell should organize training program, seminars, workshop, personality development program and industry oriented certified courses.
Now based on the above facts, how a student will opt a college. A student can give points on a scale of 25 in each parameter. So, there will be a total 100 points.
