RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CELL PROJECTS


To promote the research & development among the students and faculty "IEC R&D Cell" was established on 15th February 2013. Several innovative project and models were developed by students and faculty of IEC. The students of IEC have also participated in several project competition, model exhibitions and technical events.


RESEARCH PROJECT WORK AT A GLANCE


1. Design and Fabrication of Hybrid Vehicle

Supervised By: Mr. Amardeep

Student: A Team of ME & EE Department

A hybrid vehicle uses two or more distinct types of power, such as internal combustion engine to drive an electric generator that powers an electric motor. A team of students of IEC design and fabricate a hybrid vehicle of following specifications:

Dimensions: Track width: 1170(F) and 1300(R), Wheelbase: 1600 mm, Overall Length: 2300 mm, Height: 1000 mm, Weight: 300 kg with driver Chassis: AISI4130 Seamless Mild Steel pipe, 25.4 mm (OD): Main hoop, front hoop. 26 mm (ID): Rest sections Brakes: 2 piston floating calipers, 4 disk system. Suspensions: Double wishbone of independent type Suspension in both, front and rear Power train: BRIGSS & STARTTON 1450 XR Professional Series Max RPM – 3600 Max Torque – 14.50 ft-lbs, Tires: 185 x 60 x 13R or 155 x 70 x 13R

2. Improvement in Batasha Making Processe

The batasha is a sweet dish prepared from sugar mixture and used in traditional functions and religious rituals. It was found that traditional batasha making process is tiring (due to squatting sitting posture of artisan) and unhygienic. Hence, it needs improvement ergonomically. In this work, we have developed a set-up resembling a typical table and chair arrangement which improved the process of batasha making by eradicating the drudgery and hygiene problem. The set-up is a three rack systemthat can maintain a required level of hygiene, ergonomically suited working space and eliminate the health risks associated with the current practice. The project was funded by the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

3. Design and Fabrication of Golf Kart

Student: A team of A team of 17 Students of Mechanical and ECE branch

A Golf Kart has been designed and developed by the student of IEC Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. A SQUAD-7 team (A team of 17 Students of Mechanical and ECE branch) have developed it in the college workshop under the R&D Cell under the supervision of Mr. Amardeep (A.P. ME dept.)

The Kart has the following specifications

  • 1. Low Cost (only 80K) with High strength
  • 2. Battery operated so it's Eco friendly
  • 3. Hydraulic Break
  • 4. Easy riding with 5 persons
  • 5. Equipped with tire pressure sensor

4. Service and Surveillance using RoboMuse 4.0

RoboMuse 4.0 is a low cost automatic mobile robot developed at IIT Delhi which could demonstrate different capabilities such as traversing a pre-defined path autonomously, navigation in a pre-defined map, detecting and avoiding the static and dynamic obstacles, live video recording of the environment and is able to differentiate between a known and unknown object. It is a fourth version of RoboMuse series of robots developed under the guidance of Prof. S. K. Saha, Professor, ME Dept., IIT Delhi

The RoboMuse 4.0 is given to IEC College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida for a collaborative work to enhance its capabilities and applications.

In the journey of the advancement in RoboMuse 4.0, following featuresand applications were added at IEC:Successful docking and charging of RoboMuse 4.0 autonomously

  • 1. Developed an application so that RoboMuse 4.0 can move through multiple stations autonomously. In this, user will choose the station then robot will reach to the selected station.
  • 2. Added safety arrangement for the encoder and the circuitry
  • 3. Redesigning of the charging bracket which establishes positive contact with the Dock (Charging station) due to which robot starts charging
  • 4. Developed android app to do various tasks such as to get the live feed of video from robot to android based mobile, its current position in the virtual map

5. Design and Fabrication of any Terrain Vehicle (ATV)

An all-terrain vehicle (ATV), also known as a quad, quad bike, three-wheeler, four-wheeler, or quadric cycle as defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a vehicle that travels on low-pressure tires, with a seat that is straddled by the operator, along with handlebars for steering control. As the name implies, it is designed to handle a wider variety of terrain than most other vehicles.

An ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) is a vehicle that rides on low pressure tires with large wheel travel unlike On-road commercial vehicles. As the name implies, it is designed to tackle various kinds of terrain that Mother Nature has created. To be successful at fast trail riding, an ATV must have light weight, high power, good suspension and a low centre of gravity. The ability to go anywhere on any kind of terrain that most other vehicles could not cross soon made them popular.

6. Design & Development of Smart Dustbin

Supervisor- Ms. Sonali Dubey

Student: Amrit Raj, Vishal Rai, ECE department

Waste management is one of the primary problem that the world faces irrespective of the case of developed or developing country. The key issue in the waste management is that the garbage bin at public places gets overflowed well in advance before the commencement of the next cleaning process. It in turn leads to various hazards such as bad odor & ugliness to that place which may be the root cause for spread of various diseases. To avoid all such hazardous scenario and maintain public cleanliness and health this work is mounted on a smart garbage system. The main theme of the work is to develop a smart intelligent garbage alert system for a proper garbage management.

  • 1. This smart dustbin automatic opens its cap when someone pass hand above it
  • 2. It store biodegradable and non biodegradable things at different places.
  • 3. It sends message to the Municipal Corporation when it fill up to certain level
Circuit Description of Smart Dustbin using Arduino Uno:

The circuit of smart dustbin is shown in figure. As we know that Arduino Uno board consist ATmega328 AVR microcontroller which is heart of the board. It is accompanied by other components like a power supply, ultrasonic module HC-SR04 and servo motor.

PARTICIPATION IN EVENTS

1. Participation in Robocon-2018

For the first time IEC participated in ROBOCON-2018 (Biggest national robotics contest) held at Pune. This robotics competition was organized by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Doordarshan/Prasar Bharati and Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune. Total 130 teams were registered for this event and 117 teams reached Pune for participation and only 103 teams could reach up to arena (competition playground).

For participation in this event, a team of nine students of IEC departed for Pune on February 26, 2018 with their robots.
