LTSNU DATES BACK TO 1921 progressing ahead to now maintaining 52 Departments with over 100 specialties’ for training students. More than NINE thousand specialists from different fields Graduate from LTSNU every year. The library houses 13 Million books. The 16^th November 2010 witnessed handshake between IEC Group and LTSNU for promoting and globalizing education in various gamut.

To crystallize the efforts discussions were held with Chancellor Prof. Vitaliy Kurylo of the University, the Dr. Prof. Serhiy Savchenko, Dr. Zubkov and the University / authorities.  This was followed by the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement and the Treaty for Student Exchange on 16^th November 2010.

Another feather in the cap of IEC Group was the conferring of twin honorable DOCTORATES of Science and the honorable DOCTORATE of Tourism and Information Technology on Mr. Naveen Gupta, Ms. Kulneet Suri and Ms. Ruchi Rawat on 16^th November 2010 by the CHANCELLOR of LTSNU, Dr. Prof. Serhiy Savchenko.

During the several rounds of discussions with the CHANCELLOR and the entire University syndicate as well as various HOD’s Mr. Naveen Gupta stressed that education is not just an instrument to acquire knowledge. It is also a way of producing and nurturing socially sensitive, progressive, responsible and optimistic citizens. He emphasized his strong belief that a healthy relationship between the individual and the society is founded on the virtues of discipline, commitment and compassion, and these only a good educational system can provide. Such well-groomed individuals then go on to become the building blocks of a strong and healthy society.  The overall development of individual citizens and the building of a vibrant society go hand-in-hand.

In his own words- “As the world moves towards becoming a ‘knowledge society’ our strengths and achievements will be measured by the capacity of our research and infrastructure. I am sure our universities and institutions of higher learning will rise to the great challenge of developing our important human resource to meet the requirements of our times and our larger national interests”.

Dr. Prof. Serhiy Savchenko complemented that IEC Group of Institutions has emerged as a centre of excellence in the turfs of management, pharmacy, engineering, hotel management and vocational education, fine arts steering careers for over a decade now.

More information was provided to the University syndicate about the EXPANSION DRIVE of IEC which coming up with a state university at Baddi, nomenclature as IEC University. Some words were spoken about the Baddi (Solan distt.) campus which is spread at an area of 14.5 acres at Himuda Education Hub, 32 kms away from Chandigarh and eight kms from Kalka Railway Station. Information was disseminated the wide range of courses at this campus viz. BBA, BCA, BHMCT, BPT, B.ED, B.SC., M.SC., BA-IHA, B.TECH, B.PHARMACY, LLB., MBA, MCA, MASS COMMUNICATION AND Ph.D. You can experience a similar teaching-learning milieu at this campus including the Nanowal campus too. Students who have passed out from these centres have established their own idiosyncratic identities in their chosen orbs, carrying out their responsibilities with excellence.

Fruitful Discussions with the HOD’s and Directors of various departments

Discussions were held with the VICE-RECTOR of the Medical Sciences Department about the next project of IEC which is a Medical College and Hospital with 500 beds in Hamirpur, with ultra-modern facilities. The prescribed norms of WHO and international standards will be maintained. There would be flexibility for future expansion; longer secondary areas for better patient comfort shall be in-built. Discussions were held regarding the establishment of joint-entities with Ukranian Academy of Pedagogical Sciences

Discussions for sharing knowledge base was held with the Director of Institute of Economics and Business for offering various programs in Finance and Credit, Applied Statistics, Reality Price Evaluation, Enterprise Management and many more such programs.

Tie-up efforts for training IEC IHM students with hotels in TURKEY and Switzerland were finalized. Also the department of TRADE, Services Technologies and Tourism of LTSNU and IEC IHM will exchange course designs on Culinary Arts, International Cuisines, Hotel and Tourism Activities, Culture Studies and Aesthetics. Talks also found a strong footing on a tri-party agreement between Department of Tourism at LTSNU, IEC Group-IHM and another top of the pack Foreign University.

Similar discussions were held with other Head of Departments in various fields such as Department of Physics, Dr Igor.; Department of Informational Systems and Nets, Dr Genandy, Department of Economical Informatics Dr Viktor, Department of Documenting and Information Activity, Dr Olha.

Another innovative activity to be shared between the two enigmatic Institutions is the activity center of Foreign National Students both at IEC group and LTSNU. The FNS and Indian students from IEC can participate in various programs held at Vienna Music Academy, Thomas Moore College, Austrian Academy of Arts and many more….

Further to all this collaborations are been worked out in the fields of Physical Education and Sports, Physical Rehabilitation and health culture, philological disciplines, psychological sciences, bio-chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Foreign Languages(French, Spanish, German, Russian, CHINESE and English Language.

Both the Institutions are also exchanging dialogues on promoting programs through distance learning.

The concluding words of Mr. Naveen Gupta summed up the essence of discussions—“For the present and future I see our collaboration with LTSNU as a very integral part to build up a strong, educated, self-reliant NATIONS. I thank the LTSNU for conferring upon us the Honorable Doctorate Degree. I feel honored to accept it and receive it with gratitude.”

IEC-IHM representatives not only aspired of academic learning or knowledge sharing, but also aimed at rapport building with Industry Delegates from different parts of the Country thereby bringing recognition & enhancing the Brand Value of IEC.

The Conference was inaugurated with simultaneous Saraswati Vandana (by IHM Students) & Lighting of the Lamp by Mr. Alok Shivapuri, (Principal, IHM-Pusa), Ms. Anshu Singh (Head, Dept. of Dietetics, IHM-Pusa). The welcome address was given by & Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Mr. Syed Serwani from Board of Governors, Ministry of Tourism. On the occasion of the gracious completion of 50 years, IHM-PUSA also released their own merchandise. All delegates were then treated with tea & snacks.

The Convention launched by way of its first technical session, a presentation on the Importance of Diet menu in Hospitality Sector by Ms. Ritika Samaddar, Chief Dietetician RD from Max Healthcare. Further discussion was accelerated Mr. Manjeet Singh Gill, Corporate Chef, ITC. This was followed by a lavish lunch for the Delegates serving them with multiple cuisines. The second technical session was a forum from Mr. Sudhir Sibbal, Chef & Member of Board of Governors, ITDC on Educational Perspective of Diet in Hospitality Sector.

The last technical round was a brainstorming session from Ms. Malini Rajendran, Director MIECOFT Consultants & Services, on the Impact of Food Safety & Standards Acts on Food Businesses. A rousing street-play was performed by students which focused mainly on Food Hygiene. After all the technical sessions, the play was like a breath of fresh air.

All speakers were presented with mementoes from IHM-PUSA. IEC-IHM faculties contributed to the value of the Conference by their wisdom & learning. They & other registered Delegates were conferred with participation certificates in the Valedictory Function & the Event concluded with a heart-warming tea.
